Slow Running Girls Club Antwerp

Our Story

The idea for Slow Running Girls Club Antwerp started with a simple observation I got: the running world today seems to be focused too much on speed, performance, and competition.

Everywhere online, there are messages about running faster, pushing harder, and chasing personal records. Even groups that describe themselves as “slow” often move at a very fast pace that can feel intimidating for beginners and especially for women.

After completing a marathon, I realized that I was looking for something different. I wanted running to be something I could continue doing for the rest of my life.

I started talking about this idea with my friends. I wanted to create a community where women could run at a comfortable pace, support one another, and enjoy movement without pressure.

What began as conversations between me and my friends has grown into Slow Running Girls Club Antwerp — a welcoming community where women of all backgrounds and experience levels come together to run, connect, and have fun. We celebrate every step, every pace, and support every woman who shows up.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make running accessible, enjoyable, and inclusive for every woman.

We believe that running is not only for athletes or experienced runners. It is for anyone who wants to move their body, improve their well-being, and be part of a supportive community.

By creating a safe and encouraging environment, we help women in Antwerp to build confidence, discover the joy of running, and develop a positive relationship with movement—without pressure to perform or compete.

Our Values

Inclusivity

Every woman is welcome, regardless of age, background, body type, fitness level, or running experience. There is no pace requirement to join us.

Sisterhood and Empowerment

We believe in supporting and uplifting one another. Our community is built on kindness, encouragement, and genuine connection between women.

Well-being Over Performance

We focus on enjoyment, consistency, and long-term health rather than speed, competition, or personal records.

Accessibility

We adapt our pace to the group, take breaks when needed, and make sure nobody is left behind.

Community

Running is about more than kilometers. Through shared runs, conversations, and social moments, we create a sense of belonging and friendship.

Want to Build a Community Like This?

Over the years, I have learned how to create welcoming communities where people feel connected, engaged, and empowered.

If you are looking to start a community initiative, strengthen an existing community, or create meaningful connections between people, I offer consultations to help you turn your ideas into reality.

Whether you are a nonprofit, social entrepreneur, municipality, volunteer organization, or individual with a vision, I would be happy to share my experience and help you build a thriving community that brings people together.
